So glad you're OK. I wondered! Wild strawberries are the bomb. There's nothing that tickles the palate quite like those little gems. I grew up in Northern Ontario, Canada and we kids would be sent out a lot to pick them. Mother'd tell us not to come home until the pail was full ...it was such a huge pail...but the jam made from them tasted pretty darn good in the winter!

Ditto above. There was a void in my Google reader without your posts! I just returned from France and Spain - while in Paris I bought David's book and read it during the rest of the trip. Really enjoyable read with great recipes that I want to try. Also got to eat cassoulet - a very favorite dish - in the Languedoc. Look forward to trying your peasant bean stew. Glad to see you're back.

I haven't found or picked wild strawberries in years. I can remember discovering them on a family trip to the Poconos. A friend and I went out for a morning walk (back in those days you could do that sort of thing and your parents wouldn't be considered irresponsible for putting your life at risk) and found a big strawberry patch and we brought them back as a suprise and had them in our morning pancakes.

Your hack cassoulet seems to have your two favorite things - braised pork shoulder and beans! ;-)

I was so happy to see post from you in my google reader!
and guess who is making your peasant bean stew tonight in this beautiful, cold rainy weather?
Sweet Life in Paris is a fun read, and don't forget to try David Lebovitz's great fig tapenade. I am making it again for father's day with raisin bread crostini.
Happy Bday to Lisl!

Thanks for the kind words June! Yes, all is well here, save for lack of sleep! The other advantage to having kids pick wild strawberries is that they are so much closer to the ground! ;-)
